Information, not appraisal. Everything on SerialStitch — decoder results, sold-price ranges, guides and the paid kit — is educational information drawn from published records and observed listings. A sold-price range describes what similar machines have sold for; it is not a valuation of your machine, which depends on its model, condition, completeness and market, and can only be set by hands-on assessment.
Historical records. The serial registers, model lists and charts this site reads were published by manufacturers and collector societies over many decades. They contain transcription errors, gaps and genuine disagreements between sources. Where we know of a conflict, the result or the page says so. Dates given as allotment years are the dates the factory assigned the serial block, which is the dating method collectors use, and are labeled as such.
Electrical safety. Old wiring can be a shock and fire hazard. Inspect before energizing any vintage machine, and have damaged wiring replaced by a qualified person.
No affiliation. SerialStitch is an independent CLEARDEAL LLC project. It is not affiliated with Singer, SVP Worldwide, Sears, Kenmore, Transformco, Janome, Elna, or any manufacturer or retailer named on this site.
